Default Bad Bish, first time out in 2009.

We got in invite to go over to PA for the weekend for some tuning and racing. Blouch Turbo and CBRD put on a drag event at Beaver Springs Dragway.

After a winter of working on the Bad Bish it was finally time to haul it out to the track and make some passes. The week before we had it at our Sport Compact event and broke the differential the first pass.

We got to the track and I met the track owner. Beaver Bob, has owned the track for 39 years, buying it as an airport, converting it to a dragstrip in 30 days and has been running/operating it ever since. Hell of a nice guy, has some cool cars too that he was nice enough to show me.

Anyway. In the drivers meeting we were all told the track runs up hill a little bit and to watch it on the starting line as the cars will want to roll backwards when you stage.

First pass was a 9.61 at 149 mph. Spun hard in 1st, bogged going into 2nd. A few adjustments and the next three passes were, 9.25, 9.223 and a 9.222. The best MPH was 157.26 mph.

After the race was over we started really reviewing the logs closely and started to figure out why the times were off a bit. We knew it was spinning but didn't realize how long, far or bad. Looking at the datalogs the RPM and vehicle speed looked like an EKG! Once the car got into 4th gear it would finally smooth out and hook up.

Given the traction and the uphill track I am satisfied with the first passes of the year. I'm busy making some changes to the car now for the next time out which will be next week. We want that 8 second pass!

Also a huge thanks to Daniel here at the shop for fixing the car's diff after it broke. Big thanks to Kevin Lawson for driving it again. Jarrod for the pictures and the guys at Blouch and CBRD for putting the event on.

Here are some kick ass photos Jarrod took at the event:

Taking a break at the trailer

    Just starting to launch

Showing signs of going sideways already

    Straightened back out

Going into 3rd gear over the rise in the track, the start of lost traction

In 3rd doing a little driving to keep it straight

    Still a little sideways

Straight through the lights, quickest/fastest pass of the day

    Ugh, scary track.

Our local shop car (twin turbo vette), cut's 1.5 60' times, and gets great traction in 1st and 2nd, but then when the turbos spool up in 3rd and 4th, it's a total loss of traction, and is so scary to watch. As much as I love my speed, I couldn't imagine some of these REALLY fast cars.

    Be careful guys!

Jeff, How are ya buddy? I actually don't get nervous at all driving the car. It's definitely breaking the tires loose like a MF, but I feel very much in control. I actaully get a big smile on my face everytime I get in the BadBish. The car is an absolute blast to drive!

Hope everything is going good with you!

    Take care,
    Kevin

Do you like these new tires and wheels better than the MT's from last year?

I will see ya at the shoot out mang, you take care til then, and tell you pops I said hi, he's 1 cool dude!

I'm doing pretty good. I'll be doing much better once we get that 8 second pass! Hopefully we get it next week. I'm definitely lucky that I get to drive the car, it's an awesome car to say the least!

Can't really comment on the new wheel/tire combo yet until we run it at Norwalk again. I think the tires are the same as last year, just new. David can correct me if I'm wrong here... Basically just a different size rim to try and get the contact patch flatter.

I'll be looking forward to seeing ya at the shootout! I can't believe you left us you traitor I'll definitely tell my dad you said hi.

    Take care,
    Kevin

I missed my opportunity to ride in Project White.

I'm maybe planning on coming up early for the Shootout this year for some good old mid-west redneck debauchery.

Bad Bish will go 8's this season. I can taste it.

Thanks for all the support guys! The car is truly a beast and what I like even more is it goes rounds consistently, which seems many fast EVO's can't do. I see a lot of fast single passes but not many strung together in the same day, so I'm proud of the car, Kevin's (and Trent's) driving skills and the fact the combination of parts can keep going round after round. I don't want a one pass wonder, it takes all the fun out of racing.

We plan to run the car next Wednesday at Norwalk. Hoping to crack that barrier then. Thanks for the good wishes.

Beaver is my home track but I had to skip the event do to be busy with work. Is there a reason you kept going down the right lane? Most quick cars use the left lane for bi's and shakedowns. I know my car hates the right lane.

Its def got the powa!!! Im thinkn that maybe you do need to shed some weight to get an 8...

What about subtle things like changing out seats, ditching the exhaust, maybe losing wheel well panels? Maybe I missed this, but have you ever posted an actual weight of your car? Just curious..

Nice vid as usual Jarrod! I liked the "Leave it to Beaver" at the beginning and the 80's music...

Also, Like you told Lonnie, we don't need anymore weight out of the car.... Just need some traction!
