    Default Some 2GB tuning stuff

This is from Ceddy (both EvoM and tuners) who not only took the time to play with flashing 98.5+ ECUs but to port the mods to the ECU for knocklight and such.

Thanks Ceddy for the hard work

and the basis for the tuning:

Looks like all the stuff we are used to in the Evos has been there for awhile.

how do you determine if your ecu is flashable? Black box? What prodction date do they have? Also,I've ehard that this is only available to late 2g's? like you posted 98.5 and up, why not early 2g?

I think its the ECU architecture (chipset used) and the fact that only the 98 ups have the second plug for the flash connector. There are ways to get around this when you do an Evo ECU swap, so I'd think you could do the same with a 2G ECU in a 95-97 with the right CAS. It must be a "black box" or plastic case type ECU from reading Ceddy's notes.

The 98-99 have a flash rom in them, completely different ecu than the old school 90-97 style. Mitsu no doubt did this to save money on inventory, they can use the same ecu for an entire car line and flash it to suit. The dealer can stock one ecu and flash it for the customer from the vin number of the vehicle (they go online to Mitsu and pull up the original rom image from the assembly line so that it fits THAT cars personality PERFECTLY) GM has done this for years, I used to flash police image into customers cars for a few bucks after work...lol.

This thread isn't all that old so I thought I would add that this is all free and ceddy is doing a hell of a job with this. Any one that uses this should make at least a donation. I'm not proven on tuners after 4 years so I can't post lol but I do follow the thread closley.
