    Default Comp Turbo..

    I was recently searching around for a turbo upgrade(Probably a HTA 86)
And I came across a company named Comp Turbo..They seem like a nice company..and boy do they have a lot of Turbo's!!They have kinda got me hooked and now I'm thinking about a CT43 74 it looks like a good turbo and maybe a good company..Anyone else heard of them?Do they look like good turbos?

Why would you go with some weird company? when so many people do great with known companies? If you have money to throw out go ahead. It seems if you read enough about how someone uses a known combination or stages and gets a great result it probably is a good path to follow. If you use ten different parts from ten different company's you get a whole bunch of variables and something that is probably not close to as good as sticking to a known company.

This is the kind of thinking that limits innovation, try it and let us know.

Comp I believe is a couple of guys from the old Innovative Turbo camp, or one of them at least. Extremely knowledgeable guys but the only person I know personally that ran an Innovative had issues. The customer service was good but he got tired of sending it back for rebuilds so switched to a BW. I have no idea how good or bad the Comp line is, but it would be difficult for me to take a chance on a high dollar turbo from a newer vendor when you have tried and true options, unless you need an extremely custom piece. Just my $.02.

I run a custom 70mm TBB Comp Turbo. They have been around for a few years now. They are slowly creeping into the community. They're pretty nice pieces. I'll post my dyno and track info once I get them and let the numbers speak for me. At 28psi running E85 Revolution Motorsports went 9.8 at 147mph on one.

SpeedySam the HTA86 is a great turbo. But there is a huge difference between a HTA86 and a CT43 74mm. I know it says it's only rated at 900hp but don't believe it. It will make alot more than that.

Aren't they just assembling Garrett parts similar to how PTE and Turbonetics use to?

You can get a custom turbo made with Garrett parts like FP,PTE etc. But normally no they are not pieced together. They have their own housings, CHRA, cast & billet compressor wheels & turbine wheels.
