    Default Dyno Question

I have been going back and forth with a guy that refuses to listen to me. These guys are putting an Evo on a FWD dyno. I am trying to explain that the numbers are not accurate for many reason. I know for one that the Load isnt correct and tuning a car like this isn't the right answer. If you guys could help me come up with technical reasons why this is retarded other than the fact you are putting an AWD car on a FWD dyno. All help is appreciated.

First off you have to weld the t-case up and disconnect the driveshaft to do that. You are correct, the load will not be close to correct. When the EVO first came out we actuallly did this on our old 2wd Dynojet, numbers are not accurate and end up higher than they should be.

They are also utilizing this method to tune the car. I was trying to tell them that the load will be completely different, but they just won't listen.

Thank you Dave. With that said, do you think that there are (if any) possible consequences to doing this? The guy claims "there is a safe and trustworthy way". I take your word over his ANY day.

thats the thing. it is a good friend of mines' vehicle. i am going to just let it ride. he claims it is so the vehicle isnt sitting on the AWD dyno racking up costs. ($100/hr.). Since he has a 2WD Dyno, he will get the tune as close as possible, then throw it on the AWD dyno and finish. We had a long conversation and I guess argueing didnt do any justice. I just asked to see overlays and kindly shut up after a while.
