Default all 1G parking brakes = worst thing ever made or is just my car?

Does all 1G suffer from poor parking brake power or is just my car that has some caliper problem or something?

If I want to park the car at an inclined road I have to pull the parking brake lever pretty hard to avoid rolling down the street by itself. I also put 1st gear and turn the steering wheel fully just in case.
Is that something common among all 1G's?

I've tried different kind of brake pads and nothing improves it.

You can adjust them if you look inside the center console.
when the customer goes to get tuned and the tuner says who sold you this POS cam or intake or FMIC it wont ever be my name said..-Mike@awdmotorsports

Is not that the lever goes to high (already adjusted the tensioner to lower the lever position a lot) is just that the brakes doesn't make enough force to completelly stop the car on a hill.
You have to pull the lever hard and still sometimes not enough. Compared to all other cars I've driven (2G GST and european ones) this thing doesnt brake a shit.

So I don't know if my car has a problem or all 1G's are the same because of the rear caliper design.

Have you checked the cables at the calipers? I never had any issues with my 1g hand brake always worked great. It held it on very steep inclines just fine. I'd check the cables and make sure that its connected through the bracket correctly.

Yes they're connected correctly, I've taken them apart from the calipers few times and that's not the problem.
Right now I'm using EBC green stuff on rear calipers and the disk is not grooved at all.

I'll try to take the cables out and try to spray wd40 or light oil through them just in case.
But the feeling while pulling the lever isn't like something that's getting stuck.

Maybe the calipers need a rebuild? The seals are 19 years old, I never replaced them because never leaked.

Give it a shot, i know mine always worked fine and that was autozone pads, and rotors on replacement calipers.

common cause is weak rear calipers or a stretched ebrake cable if you adjust your cable and it still doesnt hold correctly than the correct fix is replace or rebuild your calipers in the rear....that or your ebrake cable could be overstretched to a point where it doesnt matter how tight you set it...the cable could just be so weak from age that its just stretching and not actually pullin.. i had that issue with my old talon..id pull the ebrake after adjusting it...still wouldnt hold...calipers were brand new! turned out the cable was overstretched so i had to replace it

Thanks for the tips. I'll take a look at the cable and rpobably rebuild the calipers anyway.

    I have some news.
I found a caliper that was stuck. One of the guides where the caliper rides in were rusted so the caliper couldn't move horizontally. (it seems the bot was stripped and some water entered)
Then I also found on the other side the cable was harder to move than normal. It had the boot damaged too so I guess some mud or water entered inside the cable.
I repaired the caliper, replaced the cable with another good one from a parts car.
But before installing the cables I poured some wd40 through them and engine oil after, so the cables were operating freely now.

The brake power improved a bit, not something spectacular but much better than before.
