Default thing i need to know before first start up,

I am almost ready to throw my engine in the 1st gen. I need to know what i should do for first start up. my engine is a 2.3l with 272's. I just need to know the best way i should set it up and break it in. Would it be best to put the stock turbo on? injectors? ECU- aem s2 or stock? please good knowledge on this will help me not blow my shit up lol. I appreciate all who can help. thanks

Put on whatever running gear you'll be running.

After you get a good base tune on it, take it to a tuner, and have them dyno tune it. Or, if you can tune...put a good tune on it. Then, let it rip.

Doesn't matter if you do 1 mile of break-in, or 1,000 miles of break in. If it's gonna come apart, it's better to do it sooner than later.

Yeah, Ive read a few articles on break in procedure. But I was really just wondering about initial set ups kinda. like what set up would be easiest to get a base tune with? I didnt know if it would be easier to use stock turbo set up or go ahead and put on the holset.

Hes right I broke mine in under 30psi with my FP3065 after 6 miles of just plain driving to get to a safe location.

Sounds like you need somebody who knows what they're doing.

    Trailer it up to Wakeman.

I was planning on taking it to Buschur to get it tuned. Id kinda like to get it running at least though. its just one of those things. I built the motor myself, and did absolutely all the machine work to the block, head and internals. It's been a work in progress for over a year now. Engines almost ready to rock. I just need to time it. and Im waiting for my turbo manifold to come in for the holset.

Tuning isn't an "easy" job for most people. And learning how to tune on a fresh rebuild isn't a good idea.

Im sure youre right about tuning not being easy, but isnt there an auto tune in the aem software. and other people on aempro have start up maps that you can use. idk, im not trying to tune it , just get it started.

As long as you take care of the basics, like bas timing, injector size, offsets, and get the sensor setups right (double check) on the base calibration from AEM it should start and run. I got my 2.4 with a transplanted eclipse ignition and throttlebody running right off the bat, I tried to get it running better but failed miserably, that's when it went on the trailer to Wakeman It's always better to drive it onto the dyno than push it :-)

Thats all I really want to do, just get it running enough to have the satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment.
